How Can Long Tail Keywords Develop Naturally?

Competition on popular and single word keywords have made it very hard to get on the first page of the major search engines. But by researching and using long tail keywords in your everyday search engine optimization, or SEO, you should still get profitable results. Multiple keywords are also called long tail keywords, and are very useful in getting your site ranked higher in Google. Here are a few long tail phrases as examples:

  • multiple keyword phrase research
  • long tail keyword search
  • multiple keyword phrase marketing
  • how to use long tail keywords

Using long tail keyword phrases in your marketing and SEO has the following advantages:

  • You get free traffic from the results of long tail keyword research
  • The traffic you get is focused traffic, so a lot of the marketing work has already been done
  • The traffic conversion rate is higher, that means that the people that search you are more likely to click your link, or buy your product
  • The competition on longer phrases of keywords is not as stiff as for single word keywords
  • Google loves ranking sites for long tail keywords

Probably the simplest way to long tail keyword development is simply just to write about a specific subject extensively. What we did with our site is to write a whole series of articles about traffic generation. Keyword research was discussed in one entry. Keyword links in another. The search engine optimization article naturally flowed into the SEO spider likes and dislikes article.

All different articles, but all of them dancing around the same theme. And this strategy will extent itself naturally to long tail keyword development, because when you talk about a broad subject, like traffic generation, the same keyword phrases keep popping up. It’s almost too easy.

I suggest you start off with some initial keyword phrase research for some sort of foundation. Multiple keyword research, the other name for long tail keyword research, is in fact very similar to normal keyword research. Let’s use Google Keyword Tool and do an initial search for ‘keyword’. Have a look at all the results, for now just look.

On the left of the Google Keyword Tool page, right next to the keyword, is a bar showing you how stiff the competition is for your selected keyword or keyword phrase. And that’s why you want to use long tail keyword phrases. Because the longer the tail of your keyword, the less likely you are to encounter fierce competition with it. The competition for ‘get traffic with article marketing’ is a lot les then for the shorter keyword phrase ‘get traffic’. And also a lot more focused. If you find a long tail keyword with a massive search volume and very little competition, you have a winner.

Now get a bunch of associated keyword phrases and store them somewhere on your PC. Now when you start doing your articles or blog entries you should incorporate all those 3 to 5 word keyword phrases into the headings, main body and resource boxes. Follow this up with another related article and use some of the related long tail keywords. Doing this frequently and systematically will eventually improve your search engine ranking and get you the traffic you want.
